It plays a central role in strengthening bilateral relations, supporting Australians in Indonesia, and fostering cooperation across education, trade, security, and development.
The Australian Embassy in Jakarta is the official diplomatic mission of Australia to Indonesia. Situated at Jalan Patra Kuningan Raya Kav. 1-4, South Jakarta, the embassy is strategically positioned to engage with Indonesian government institutions, businesses, and civil society. Its primary function is to represent Australia’s interests, manage diplomatic relations, and provide consular services to Australian citizens residing in or visiting Indonesia. Events such as the Festival Sinema Australia Indonesia showcase contemporary films from both countries, promoting cultural understanding and strengthening people-to-people connections. These programs reflect Australia’s commitment to fostering long-term educational and cultural ties with Indonesia.
Consular services form another important aspect of the embassy’s work. The embassy assists Australians in Indonesia with passport services, visa applications, emergency travel documents, and legal document notarization. It also provides support in cases of emergencies, such as natural disasters or health crises, ensuring that Australian citizens receive timely assistance. The embassy maintains updated travel advisories and encourages Australians to register their travel plans for safety and communication purposes.
In addition to its diplomatic and consular functions, the embassy is actively involved in development cooperation. Australia has long supported Indonesia’s development priorities, including initiatives in governance, infrastructure, health, and disaster resilience. The embassy coordinates programs that aim to strengthen Indonesia’s institutional capacity and promote sustainable growth. These efforts underscore Australia’s role as a partner in Indonesia’s national development journey.
The embassy also engages with Indonesian communities through outreach and public diplomacy. By maintaining strong connections with Indonesian society, the embassy enhances Australia’s image and reinforces the values of partnership and cooperation.
