PT Vale Indonesia was established by Deed No. 49 dated July 25, 1968, drawn up before Eliza Pondaag, a public notary in Jakarta. We operates under a Contract of Work, which was amended with a Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) on May 13, 2024. The contract is valid until December 28, 2035, and the concession covers an area of 118,017 Ha covering South Sulawesi (70,566 hectares), Central Sulawesi (22,699 hectares) and Southeast Sulawesi (24,752 hectares).In producing nickel in the Sorowako Block, we use pyro metallurgical technology (in melting the laterite nickel ore). The Company mines laterite nickel ore and processes it into the final product of nickel in matte.
The Company also continues its plan to developing integrated mining practices through the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, and in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The development project also targets existing operational locations, in East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.
As the two largest shareholders, MIND ID (PT Mineral Industri Indonesia) and Vale Canada Limited (VCL) jointly control PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. MIND ID holds the largest share in the company at 34.00%, while VCL holds approximately 33.88%.

Senior Geotech and Hydrology Engineer

Purpose of the Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure slope stability, mine infrastructure safety, effective water resource management, and sustainable geotechnical and hydrological risk mitigation. This position plays a critical role in providing technical recommendations and engineering solutions that support safe and efficient mining operations.Accountabilities
- Implementing and supervising Environment, Health, Safety, and Risk (EHSR) standards and regulations by ensuring working environmental conditions, equipment, materials, methods, worker behavior, and 5S under area responsibility with the aim of minimizing risk, achieving safe and secure conditions (Zero Harm), clean environment, and achieved work productivity targets.
- Develop comprehensive geotechnical and hydrological assessments, including slope stability analysis, soil and rock characterization, rainfall analysis, surface water flow, groundwater evaluation, and catchment area studies to support safe and effective operations.
- Prepare, review, and optimize geotechnical and hydrological designs, including mine slope designs, waste disposal areas, sediment ponds, drainage systems, and water management infrastructure, while identifying and mitigating risks that may impact mine safety and productivity.
- Ensure the implementation of geotechnical and hydrological monitoring programs, analyze field data and monitoring instruments, and provide timely technical recommendations to maintain mine area stability and the effectiveness of water management systems.
- Ensure all geotechnical and hydrological activities comply with company standards and applicable environmental requirements, while coordinating with operations teams, contractors, and relevant stakeholders to support successful operational activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, with a preference for Geotechnical or Hydrology Engineering specialization with minimum 7 years experience in related field and industry.
- Possession of a POP (First-Line Mine Supervisor) certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in technical software such as MODFLOW, Rocscience, and GIS is preferred.
- Strong ownership and sense of responsibility, with the ability to work independently while maintaining alignment with team and organizational goals.
- Preferably have experience or knowledge in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System (SMK3L).
