LPS LogoThe Indonesia Deposit Insurance Corporation (Lembaga Penjamin Simpanan or LPS) was established by the Government of Indonesia through Law Number 24 of 2004 concerning the Deposit Insurance Corporation. LPS is an independent, transparent, and accountable institution in carrying out its duties and authorities. It is responsible to the President and headquartered in Jakarta, with the possibility of having representative offices throughout the territory of the Republic of Indonesia.
LPS serves to insure customer deposits and insurance policies. It actively participates in maintaining the stability of the banking system in accordance with its authority, carries out bank resolutions, and handles issues related to insurance companies and sharia-based insurance companies whose licenses have been revoked by the Financial Services Authority (OJK).
LPS formulates and establishes policies for the implementation of deposit insurance and carries them out. It also sets and executes policies for the insurance policy guarantee program. Beyond insurance, LPS is tasked with shaping and implementing financial system stability policies, preparing bank resolution actions including due diligence and exploratory talks with banks or potential investors, and executing resolutions for banks categorized as Banks in Resolution.
Additionally, LPS prepares and executes liquidation policies for conventional and sharia-based insurance companies whose licenses have been revoked by OJK.
