It operates as a holding company with businesses spanning the thermal coal, logistics, land, investments, and power generation sectors. Its operational areas include South Kalimantan, South Sumatra, and Central Kalimantan. The Company and its subsidiaries follow a vertically integrated business model, starting with coal mines as the initial point in their supply chain and culminating with power plants.
The Company has achieved notable milestones since its inception. In 2005, it acquired AI, a thermal coal company that had been producing Envirocoal since 1992 under a Government of Indonesia contract. AI’s production surged in 2006, reaching 34.4 million tonnes. By 2014, SCM commenced commercial production with 890 thousand tonnes of coal.
