Established in 1990 under the name PT Panganjaya Intikusuma, the company adopted its current name in 1994 and has since grown into a vertically integrated enterprise that spans the entire food production chain. This integration allows Indofood to manage every stage of its operations from agricultural cultivation and raw material processing to manufacturing, marketing, and distribution ensuring consistent quality and efficiency across its product lines.
The company operates through four major business groups. The Consumer Branded Products (CBP) group is responsible for producing a wide range of everyday food items, including instant noodles, dairy products, snack foods, seasonings, and beverages. Indomie, one of its flagship brands, is a household name in Indonesia and enjoys strong international recognition. Other notable brands include Supermi, Sarimi, Pop Mie, Chitato, and Indomilk. This division has played a key role in shaping consumer habits and preferences in Indonesia and abroad, thanks to its strong brand equity and continuous product innovation.
Bogasari, Indofood’s flour milling division, is one of the largest in Southeast Asia. It produces wheat flour and pasta and operates supporting units in shipping and packaging. Bogasari’s facilities are strategically located to serve both domestic and export markets, and its products are widely used by bakeries, food manufacturers, and households. The division’s scale and efficiency contribute significantly to Indofood’s overall supply chain reliability and cost management.
The Agribusiness group encompasses activities such as seed breeding, oil palm cultivation, milling, and the production of cooking oils, margarine, and shortening. It also engages in the cultivation of sugar cane, rubber, and other crops. This group operates under subsidiaries including Indofood Agri Resources Ltd and PT Salim Ivomas Pratama Tbk. Its vertically integrated model supports both upstream and downstream operations, enabling Indofood to maintain control over raw material quality and supply stability.
Indofood’s Distribution group manages one of the most extensive distribution networks in Indonesia. This division ensures that Indofood’s products reach consumers across the archipelago, including remote and rural areas. It also distributes third-party products, leveraging its logistical infrastructure to maximize market coverage and operational efficiency. The group’s reach and reliability are key to Indofood’s ability to maintain its market dominance and respond quickly to changing consumer demands.
As of 2023, Indofood reported revenues of approximately IDR 111.7 trillion and a net profit of IDR 8.1 trillion. Its total assets stood at IDR 186.5 trillion, with equity reaching IDR 100.4 trillion. These figures reflect the company’s financial strength and its ability to generate consistent returns for shareholders. Indofood’s products are exported to various regions including Asia, Australia, and Europe, further reinforcing its position as a global player in the food industry.
The company is led by Anthoni Salim, who serves as President Director and CEO. Indofood is a subsidiary of First Pacific Investment Management Limited, which holds a majority stake of 50.07%. The leadership team includes experienced professionals overseeing key divisions such as noodles, dairy, plantations, and distribution. Indofood’s history is marked by several key milestones. In the late 1960s, PT Lima Satu Sankyo began producing Supermi, the first instant noodle in Indonesia. Indomie was introduced in 1972, followed by Sarimi in 1982 and Chiki in 1983.
