PT Vale Indonesia was established by Deed No. 49 dated July 25, 1968, drawn up before Eliza Pondaag, a public notary in Jakarta. We operates under a Contract of Work, which was amended with a Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) on May 13, 2024. The contract is valid until December 28, 2035, and the concession covers an area of 118,017 Ha covering South Sulawesi (70,566 hectares), Central Sulawesi (22,699 hectares) and Southeast Sulawesi (24,752 hectares).In producing nickel in the Sorowako Block, we use pyro metallurgical technology (in melting the laterite nickel ore). The Company mines laterite nickel ore and processes it into the final product of nickel in matte.
The Company also continues its plan to developing integrated mining practices through the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, and in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The development project also targets existing operational locations, in East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.
As the two largest shareholders, MIND ID (PT Mineral Industri Indonesia) and Vale Canada Limited (VCL) jointly control PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. MIND ID holds the largest share in the company at 34.00%, while VCL holds approximately 33.88%.

Mechanical Engineer

Purpose of the Role
To provide mechanical engineering design work from engineering feasibility study phase to the commissioning phase of the project with a good quality of deliverables, meets company standards and National and International codes and standards. Provide technical assistants to operational and maintenance departments for problem solving and root cause analysis. Including technical review to other mechanical engineer’s design.Accountabilities
- Implementing and supervising energy management, Environment, Health, Safety, and Risk (EHSR) standards and regulations and energy management system by ensuring working environmental conditions, equipment, materials, methods, worker behavior, and 5S under area responsibility with the aim of minimizing risk, achieving safe and secure conditions (Zero Harm), clean environment, and achieved work productivity targets.
- Complete mechanical engineering design following PTVI Engineering Standard Procedures as well as international standards.
- Develop project scope and provide alternatives and recommendations to the project engineer, project manager and project sponsor as per agreement with project sponsor.
- Coordinate preparation of mechanical engineering construction drawings to ensure a comprehensive package is issued that is fully understood and constructible.
- Develop mechanical technical specifications for equipment/materials purchase and create material requisition for all equipment and material required in the project assigned, review technical and bid evaluation and propose to project engineer and project manager for the best tender offer.
- Develop cost estimate in accordance with project scope of work and technical specifications, and Engineering Work Package (EWP) documentation and commissioning procedure, to ensure all aspects of construction, safety, and quality clearly defined.
- Produce tender scope of work, review technical bids and propose to project engineer and project manager for the best tender offer, and also perform periodic inspection to ensure the work is technically being performed in accordance with mechanical EWP requirements.
- Provide mechanical engineering technical support for PTVI Maintenance and Operations Department as well as cooperatively work with project designers communicating ideas effectively. This support includes mentoring and coaching junior mechanical engineers, and also collaboration with other mechanical engineers.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (S1) in Mechanical Engineering.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field.
- Certified for Pengawas Operasional Pertama (POP) is a preferable.
- Strong technical competence in mechanical engineering, static and rotating equipment, system energy and energy analysis, fluid mechanic, thermodynamics, etc.
- Basic technical knowledge on civil structure, material and metallurgy, electrical and instrumentation.
- Hands-on manual calculation and software proficiency such as ANSYS, CFD, HYSYS, AFT (Arrow and Fathom), Solidwork.
- Preferably have experience or knowledge in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System (SMK3L).
