Vale Indonesia Jobs: Junior Exploration Database Management Geologist

PT Vale Indonesia was established by Deed No. 49 dated July 25, 1968, drawn up before Eliza Pondaag, a public notary in Jakarta. We operates under a Contract of Work, which was amended with a Special Mining Business Permit (IUPK) on May 13, 2024. The contract is valid until December 28, 2035, and the concession covers an area of 118,017 Ha covering South Sulawesi (70,566 hectares), Central Sulawesi (22,699 hectares) and Southeast Sulawesi (24,752 hectares).
In producing nickel in the Sorowako Block, we use pyro metallurgical technology (in melting the laterite nickel ore). The Company mines laterite nickel ore and processes it into the final product of nickel in matte.
The Company also continues its plan to developing integrated mining practices through the Indonesia Growth Project (IGP) in Morowali Regency, Central Sulawesi, and in Kolaka Regency, Southeast Sulawesi. The development project also targets existing operational locations, in East Luwu Regency, South Sulawesi.
As the two largest shareholders, MIND ID (PT Mineral Industri Indonesia) and Vale Canada Limited (VCL) jointly control PT Vale Indonesia Tbk. MIND ID holds the largest share in the company at 34.00%, while VCL holds approximately 33.88%.

Junior Exploration Database Management Geologist

• Work Location: Sorowako

Purpose of the Role

To perform maintaining and monitoring geoloical database for further management decision to support PT Vale Indonesia Tbk operation and MRMR reporting and ensure the prosesses aligned with Vale guidelines. Applies information systems technology to managing data resources to meet needs of Study and Exploration Department.

Accountabilities

• Maintain geological databases, including data collection, processing and analysis to prepare valid data to support ongoing PT Vale Indonesia Tbk operation or PT Vale Indonesia Tbk strategic.
• Create a database to store geological information, such as: Field data (drills, geophysical, etc.), Laboratory data (chemical, physical analysis, etc.) to ensure proper quality data to support exploration activities, resources assessment and resource estimation.
• Implement a database management system and exploration data traffic to increase efficiency and accuracy to support ongoing PT Vale Indonesia Tbk operation or PT Vale Indonesia Tbk strategic.
• Create reports and data visualization to get a well-documented for analysis and decision making.
• Implement review and validation of all required supporting data for the mineral resources modelling process to ensure proper quality of the resulting block model and resource estimation.
• Assist Database Geologist and Mineral Assessment Geologist to prepare valid data to support ongoing PT Vale Indonesia Tbk operation or PT Vale Indonesia Tbk strategic.
• Ensure all information from all Exploration projects PTVI can be available in one database management system and earn to access easily for authorized person.

Requirements

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree (S1) in Geological Engineering.
• Minimum 2 years experience in Nickel Laterite or mineral deposit.
• Geology and Database management knowledge
• Experience with database management systems (DBMS) such as MySQL, Oracle, or Microsoft SQL Server (preferable), proven by a certificate or work experience / reference letter.
• Experience with geology software such as ArcGIS.
• Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Java (preferable).
• Preferably have experience or knowledge in the Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Management System (SMK3L).
