Over the years, the organization underwent several transformations, becoming Perusahaan Negara Kereta Api (PNKA) in 1963, Perusahaan Jawatan Kereta Api (PJKA) in 1971, and Perusahaan Umum Kereta Api (Perumka) in 1991. In 1999, the company transitioned into PT Kereta Api (Persero), marking its shift toward a more corporate structure. Today, KAI operates as a modern railway company, continuously improving its services and infrastructure to meet the growing demands of transportation in Indonesia.
KAI manages an extensive railway network, with thousands of kilometers of track spanning Java, Sumatra, and parts of Sulawesi. General Requirements
- Indonesian citizenship
- Male or Female according to formation needs
- Physically and mentally healthy
- Possess a valid Diploma / Graduation Certificate (SKL):
- Diploma 3 with GPA minimum 3.0 and accreditation of study program at graduation date minimum “Baik Sekali (B)” from BAN-PT or Authorized Institution
- Diploma 4 / Bachelor's degree with GPA minimum 3.0 and accreditation of study program at graduation date “Unggul (A)” from BAN-PT or Authorized Institution
- Age by 15 April 2026:
- Diploma 3 minimum 20 years and maximum 27 years
- Diploma 4 / Bachelor's degree minimum 21 years and maximum 30 years
- Minimum height:
- Male 160 cm and female 155 cm with ideal weight
- Specifically for Diploma 3 – Conductor, male minimum 163 cm with ideal weight
- Good conduct
- Not pierced (for male) and / or tattooed
- Never used or involved in narcotics or psychotropics
- Never imprisoned based on a legally binding court decision
- Never resigned early, on own request, or due to disciplinary punishment in KAI Group or Affiliates
- Never dismissed from other institutions due to disciplinary punishment or dishonorable discharge
- No marital relationship with the company employee
- Willing to follow recruitment selection according to KAI Group regulations
