The origin of railway restaurant services dates back to the Dutch East Indies government’s awareness of the need to provide food and beverages during train journeys, leading to the establishment of railway restaurants in the 1930s. During the PJKA era, in 1971, a unit named RESTORKA was formed under the PJKA Main Office, located at Jalan Stasiun Timur No. 6 Bandung. Initially, RESTORKA only served beverages such as Es Siripit. In 1972, following the launch of the Parahyangan train and the issuance of PJKA Director’s Decree No. 4805/SK/72 dated December 5, 1972, RESTORKA became a special unit within PJKA’s organizational structure, providing a dedicated platform for railway service management. At that time, RESTORKA offered food menus, including the legendary Nasi Goreng Parahyangan.
